Paying tribute to Garrett, Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said:

“I must first pay tribute to the great work you did at Transport for London (TfL) over a number of years, transforming TfL’s Surface Transport operations into a single integrated and highly effective organisation.

“More recently, your leadership as Chief Executive of the London Ambulance Service and at such a crucial time for our city, is to be commended. Thank you for the fundamental part you – and of course your staff - have played in helping deal with the cononavirus pandemic as a critical part of the NHS infrastructure.

“You have also led the organisation through responses to to some of London’s major incidents, such as the Grenfell Tower tragedy and the two London Bridge terror attacks. Your leadership and commitment have undoubtedly strengthened and developed the service so that you leave it in a much more robust place than when you began.”
